The Carpenters
Since my last blog entry was a bit serious, I thought in this one I'd share a very fun factoid. On Halloween in 1974, as part of the Homecoming festivities for the year, the Carpenters performed at North Central College in Pfeiffer Hall.
While a dorm director, I attended the Carpenter's concert in the Fieldhouse. Karen's vocals were fabulous and the memory heightens the loss. The highlight of the evening for me was when they introduced the band's drummer as "the former Mouseketeer, Cubby O'Brien" It was quite touching to see him step off of the stage after the concert to present his drumsticks to a fan in a wheelchair. Imagine my disappointment upon hearing that he would not be able to introduce me to 'Annette'.

That's interesting!
That was a pretty big name to have play at Homecoming!
I wonder if the homecoming theme that year was: "Now and Then" or "Yesterday Once More"
